Parlez-vous Français?

We don't but are learning! We were blessed with a wonderful exchange student, Jean Baptiste from Nantes, France last week. He came to the States with Fr. Chad Evert from the Legionaires of Christ. Fr. Chad grew up around this area and hasn't been back for 13 years! He brought over 9 boys. The group spent a week in Atlanta on retreat, then in Indiana. Finally onto Wisconsin for some family fun.

Jean Baptiste, JB is 17 and is the oldest of 2 sisters (1 still waiting adoption from Haiti) and 3 brothers. He loves history and hopes to follow in his mother's footsteps and become a High School History teacher.

We had a blast having him try different foods. Of course, being here in Wisconsin we had to try cheese curds. We went to the local cheese factory to get them nice and fresh!!!!! SQUEEEEEK! "It is good." "Would you like more?" "Uh, no thank you!"
We also had blueberry pancakes, sno-cones, corn on the cob, and ice cream! It was very fun to show a 17yr old how to lick and turn the cone.

JB experienced VBS, mall shopping, canoeing down a very low river...swimming in the swimming hole, Packer training camp for kids, Bay beach amusement park, Jedi Knight on the computer and a few museums. We sent a photo album home with him as a momento. His father mentioned that his trip seemed very interesting! It was!

He told us all about his country, the catholic church in France, life as a student....we may adopt their school schedule...8am - 6pm Sept - July. You should have see my kids eyes when I suggested that!!!! He also taught us a great card game called President. It is one of Morgan's favorites. JB and Morgan also learned how to shuffle cards the "fancy" way.

After having JB, who after a week we already miss, we would love to take another student sometime. Hopefully Fr. Chad will come back soon...maybe he will be in France still or maybe another country. We shall see!
